Barberton City Schools
Jennifer Prentiss
Math, Grade 5, Barberton Middle School
Jennifer Prentiss has been teaching in the Barberton School District for 14 years. She has been involved in the Levy Committee, Building Leadership Team, Math Mapping Committee, Safety Team, and Text Book Pilot Committee. She has been married for 15 years to her husband, Lee, and has a son named Jake and a daughter named Emma. Jennifer enjoys running, hiking, reading, crafts, and cake decorating. While her favorite aspect of being a teacher is the excitement of new discoveries, challenges, and adventures, her philosophy is that, “All students can learn when they are accepted for who they are and where they are in their educational journey. I truly want to ignite the spark of learning in all of my students.” Jennifer hopes to find ways to grow as an educator so she may find new ways to reach her students. Making a difference in each student’s life is very important to her.
Nominator: “Jennifer is a motivational teacher who develops a deep rapport with her students. She is genuine in her dealings with students, staff, and parents, and has that special spark that motivates kids to bring out their personal best!”
