BARBERTON: Mayor Bill Judge will host a community meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Lake Anna YMCA to discuss the upcoming Barberton City Schools' levy on the May 7 ballot.
Members of the school administration and Board of Education will be present to answer questions regarding the levy and the district's financial forecast.
The Barberton school board said art, music and sports programs are set to be reduced or eliminated if the $3 million, 8.45-mill levy does not pass May 7.
“These eliminations or cuts are not easy for any of us to have to think about or discuss,” board president Joe Stefan said at a previous school board meeting. “Each one of us on the Board of Education, we each have our passions... and these things actually equate to people and that makes it always very tough.”
